Eco Driver Training
Introduction
This Eco driver training course is conducted under the Department of Transports HGV Eco Driving Training Standard. FTA Ireland are approved providers of this course.
Implementing Eco Driver Training as part of your organisation’s sustainability program offers numerous benefits for fleet operators. Eco driving is not about driving slower; in fact, drivers often complete their routes more quickly. It focuses on enhancing the driver’s current skillset whilst driving mindfully, ensuring that drivers are fully aware of the dynamic traffic environment around them and can react appropriately.
This training is designed towards safety awareness and risk management in addition to providing drivers with the tools drive with fuel efficiency in mind.

Course objectives/aims
The training will raise driver awareness, concentration, and observation skills. The aims of the course are as follows:
- To Introduce Eco-driving to professional drivers
- To understand the basic operation of the vehicle
- To understand the Eco driver techniques
- To improve on the skillset of the professional driver
- To understand the additional factors that can affect driving style
Course outcomes
The FTA Ireland Eco drive Training Programme will deliver for the operator:

Who should attend?
Drivers of any vehicle wishing to improve driving techniques and reduce vehicle running costs.
Duration
Classroom presentation 2 hours
On road coaching 2.5 hours per driver
Delivery
Trainer led classroom presentation followed by practical on road coaching.
Participants
Maximum 20 per classroom session.
On road coaching 1 on 1.
Requirements
Driver licence, CPC card and Tachograph card where appropriate
Certification
On completion of this course a certificate of attendance will be issued to all participants. Price on application.
